Washington Monument in Mount Vernon
Checking out the newest exhibits in Walter’s Art Museum in Mount Vernon? Why not take a full tour of the amazing Mount Vernon Square which houses Baltimore’s Washington Monument? This lovely 178 foot monument broke ground on July 4, 1815 by Robert Mills in honor of our first president, George Washington. Today you can climb the monument for $5 and the base level is an exhibition where visitors can learn about George Washington, the monument, and Mount Vernon Conservancy. There is also plenty of greenery so that you can plan a picnic and take in the gorgeous Washington Monument.
