Hey! This week I wanted to branch out a bit and share my adventure to our backyard…Washington DC! Now before we start--DC is so accessible this little day adventure is very obtainable. If you don’t have a car, the MARC train is $16 roundtrip. Besides, I love catching the MARC train just to people watch. I really enjoy seeing all the travelers. You’ve got the ratchet people (who will literally have a convo with you about anything), and then there's the “important” business people (who take themselves wayyyy too serious), & then you have people like me…cool people (kidding).
I went to DC to go the Hishhorn Museum & the Renewick Gallery SAAM and it was very cool. There are plenty of photo ops for my die hard art heauxs, hipsters, & those who have the “fake deep” appreciation for art. Hishhorn had cool exhibits about America being the new Hunger Games, an interactive exhibit where you can create your own art and have it projected on the wall, and a bunch of other fascinating things. Renewick had so many interesting exhibits as well. There was one with huge mountains made out of postcards, another with human size bird nests, and even an exhibit made from bugs!
It was about 4:00pm when I was finishing up at the museums…which meant it was perfect timing for HAPPY HOUR! So I made my way over to Chinatown and ended up at Thai Chili. I had a few gin & ginger ales from this awesome bartender who was from Russia; and I ordered drunken noodles with chicken (my favorite Thai dish). Afterwards, I drunkenly made my way back to the MARC train for my trip home. Overall, I had a great day full of culture and fun! So on your next day off…you should definitely make the short trip to our backyard.
