Brunch in forest hills

Oh, hiiiiiiii. I hope you guys experienced the most romantic v-day ever. I'm swear I'm no Scrooge I just really don’t like to go out on holidays in general – it seems that the food isn’t quite as good and it's always super crowded. I usually prefer to do something at home and this year, I didn't get to do that. I kinda sorta promised the baby sis that I would venture up to the big apple to celebrate her birthday. She had a few places she wanted to try out so I gracefully obliged. However, lets just put this out there. Last weekend was thee coldest ever, at about 11°, real feel about -30° and we won't get into wind chill.

So, originally the birthday plans were to Brunch and Dessert hop, but like I said before....real feel was pushing -30° and being the responsible big sis I made the executive decision to cancel out a few places. We were headed to a Hispanic breakfast spot in Forest Hills. But due to Uber technicalities we ended up at right in front of Jack & Nellies on Ascan Ave. Trying to fit a party of 6 was proving to be too challenging as soon as we tried to opened the door. Because, holidays. The owner, Cyril greeted us at the door and explained how it would be about an hour wait to seat all of us. Luckily, around the block the from Nellie's is ROVE. A quaint spot, serving a variation of cuisines including comfort foods lunch spot especially good for the laid back nostalgia. Cyril even escorted us to the restaurant, which he co-owns as well.

there's steak under all that cheese egg goodness!

Foodwise-everything we ordered was outstanding. I would recommend ROVE for lunch/brunch with a group of people who might not want all the same things. The restaurant has great omelets, steak and eggs, and a variety of mimosas. So if you're ever wondering around aimlessly in Forest Hills definitely make sure you stop by. Tell Cyril, I sent ya!
