Things You Need To Know About Fashion Week
Well hello lovers! It is officially my second favorite month of the year...February! There is so much going on from Valentines Day, Black History Month and of course New York Fashion Week! Every winter we all see what our favorite designers are offering us this autumn season. Even if the collections are out of your income bracket to purchase (which it is for most of us lol) fashion week is still a fun time to network, get hip to upcoming trends and just see some bad ass looks. Now I have never been to New York fashion week but from years of streaming and skimming through looks I wanted to share some cool facts that you may have had questions about. Also I've decided to show some of my favorite runway looks from last seasons fashion weeks. Enjoy!
Not everyone is invited to attend Fashion Week Mercedes Benz Fashion week is one of the most exclusive events in the world and you definantly have to be a who's who to be invited, that's right invited. You can't purchase tickets to shows. Designers want specific buyers, editors and bloggers sitting at their shows to keep a certain atmosphere that matches the aesthetic of their collection...I know right, bougie. Of course you can always finesse your way in but with the check in list for shows being digital these days it makes it harder. The best way to get into a show without an invitation is to simply act like you belong there and have on a bad ass outfit. Good Luck and may the odd's be in your favor.

There are more than 140 shows all over the globe. New York fashion week is the leading fashion week but there are a lot more in different city's and countries. New York leads the circuit which then goes to London, Milan then Paris(in that order). Outside of those fashion weeks you can find circuits a lot of other places from Japan to South Africa. My favorite outside of the New York circuit is Australia Fashion week.

This is where knock off's come from. So of course we all know which retailers knock off major designers but the runway is where it starts. There are actually people that go to shows just to note which garments they can mimic and sell for a profit. From Zara to H&M they all get their "inspiration" straight from fashion week. With fast fashion these retailers can benefit and stay on trend much quicker than prior years.

You can stream most shows. Another thing that allows retailers to copy designs is the ability to watch streamed shows. Vogue Runway is one of the leading providers of streamed shows. It's something we all can enjoy, you can sit front row and Marc Jacobs just like Anna Wintour.

A model can walk in up to 30 shoes during fashion week. That may not sound like a lot but imagine walking in over 70 looks in 30 shows in a week. In a matter of seven days you have dozens of people dressing you, telling you what to wear, and constantly in hair and make-up. Actually that doesn't sound so bad. Karlie Kloss holds the record for most runways walked at 31 shows only at the age of 15!
